Utah VHF/UHF Band Plan (Converted)

This page is a modern, mobile-friendly conversion of the Utah VHF Society band plan page. Band plans are community agreements; FCC Part 97 allocations are the legal authority.

Local practice matters: Utah’s band plan implementation can differ from national recommendations based on geography, population distribution, and long-established usage patterns.

Wide vs. Narrow FM

  • Wide: ±5 kHz deviation (typical analog repeater use)
  • Narrow: ±2.5 kHz deviation (typically ~12–15 kHz receive bandwidth)

Utah analog voice repeaters are generally coordinated for Wide FM. “Narrow” into a wide system often sounds quiet; wide into narrow filtering can distort.

Simplex guidance

Choose simplex frequencies carefully and avoid repeater inputs/outputs and satellite segments. If you plan frequent simplex operation on uncommon frequencies (especially 70cm), consider checking with the frequency coordinator.

These diagrams are Utah-specific; do not assume they apply outside Utah.
